I’m a derby girl, In a derby world

Hey vidheads. So yes, I play roller derby. The scene is kind of an underground revival from the roller derby of decades past – it has been steadily picking up steam since Texas and Arizona teams formed in ’02 and ’03, and there are now hundreds of teams across the country and thousands of people (players, referees and coaches) on the International Rollergirls Master Roster .  I’m on Stillwater, OK’s “Angels of No Mercy” team based in the Central Oklahoma Roller Derby Association. My persona in the rollerworld is “Careena Smearnoff” (if you’ve ever seen “Dancing with the Stars” you’ll get it), and my number is 66 inch (it stands for my height). My position is blocker, which means I’m supposed to kock other girls out of the way, help my own jammer (point scorer) through the pack, and keep the opposing jammer from getting through. I’m not very good at it yet, but I’ve only been in 8 bouts so far. This is footage from our October bout against the Tornado Alley Rollergirls of OKC. I’m the girl in the black shirt and red skirt. Note the awesome fall I take at 1:06 when my jammer falls in front of me.

Fishnets, knee socks, short skirts and getting to knock other girls on eight wheels down? God I love this sport.
